Thin Wall Anti-Extrusion Rings

Juice Engineering were approached in 2024 by a new-start, local oilfield downhole tool company for highly-responsive, precision CNC machining services to support ongoing R&D activities. This included challenging new prototype parts such as extremely thin wall, tight-tolerance stainless steel back-up rings that very few other subcontractors were willing to tackle.

We immediately recognised the problem with maintaining such tight tolerances across production batches and offered a new solution using in-house turning and stress relieving with custom design fixturing to allow the pieces to be machined without any radial clamping forces.

Juice Engineering was able to very quickly provide some free sample pieces in an alternative metallurgy for initial product inspection, before being awarded batch orders.

We continue to supply subcontract prototype machining services for this and many other components.
